ILP - Paid holidays @ TCS Jun-Sep 2010 -Part 2

So we go to the second day.As usual boring lectures continued.I clearly don't remember what happened on the second day.All I remember is our teachers were introduced to us.From the name itself I could make out that most of them were Mallus.Everything went fine on the day days except for those guys who were still not complete with their documents and in my local context Ritesh and Varun.They were running here n there to compete it in sm way.New place with many stupid rules and more over new language to deal with.They were having a really tough time completing it.

Ok..Nw let me come to the first day of real training after all the initial induction stuff.I guess that was Wednesday or Thursday.My first lecture with my section was Programming skills.Lecture in charge was sm Miss Gloria.Well, I had asked my CR where the classroom was.It was in T-16.I had to wake up early in the morning coz there is no bdy to go with me in T09 whom I knew.So I had to find out the room by myself..n moreover TCS admin have already threatened that if we r late even by 1 minute they will cut half day leave for that. Sounds like some military school.

So I woke up early....everything went according to order n I reached my destination successfully before time...So day starts on a good note...As usual I took a seat in the back benches..Well, there were only three rows..sad..So a little tough to sleep..See
dats the first thought that comes to my mind now a days when Ist first enter class...BIT has changed me a lot !!

Coming to my classmates,Icould see sm faces that I noticed the past 2 days.One of them a very serious looking guy wearing a glass.He's sitting as if he's the Dean of the whole institute !! He was tall,fair and the most noticeable feature - a long nose.
Hmmm....Who else...Yaaa of course the 2 CRs. Another very serious looking guy was sitting next to the main CR.He too was tall and wore glasses ! But CR looked a pretty cool guy !
Coming to girls section..There were 6 gals..including the cute looking CR-ini..n there was "Jaggruthi" ..I had noted her be4 coz of her very peculiar name :P !! n Others were unknown..

Mam..I mean miss Gloria arrived on time..Switched on the projector and comp..n started her work..She took our brief introduction before getting into real business ! Got to know where are my 'going to be' friends from..One college name got repeated again and again was ..COEP,Pune..College of Engineering Pune..It was the first time I heard that college name..
But the there were guys from ISM Dhabad and NIT Allahabad as well! A slight relief...I got company (Stupid guys from famous instituations ) :P. N there were guys from PEC,Punjab Engineering college. Those were the prominent names there.Ya..Only 1 BIT,Mesra :P .But that guy is unique here .. the unique feature being he's local..So immediately noticed !

So without wasting much time here, she started her business.Started explaining slides one by one.We had to learn a new programming language named 'Doctor Scheme'..Have u guys ever heard of such a programming language used anywhere.Don think too much..Itz nt used anywhere n thats wat TCS teaches it employees ! Strange strategy .. She explained its a programming
language developed by MIT students only for educational purposes.Well lets wait n c wat makes it a educational programming language..

Just 10 mins through the lecture I started getting sleep as expected and indications started naturally...I yawned..n to make things worse...She saw it..worser..she stopped the class and gave me strange looks..
She said,"you can wash ur face and come"...I replied quickly,"No mam,I am fine"..
She asked,"Are you sure ?".
I gave her a confirmation..Damn..Wat a start to my training session..The first guy to be caught in the class ! She already got my picture as a lazy guy...A really bad start..More guys were caught in the class for yawning..Well I got company in this too..n thats y all of us r in TCS :P .First lecture got over.10 mins refreshment time follows.

So all my classmates got out of the classroom in gangs...ie college gangs..Most of them..or rather all of them except me had friends from the same college..All of them were discussing seriously abt the just finished lecture..As far as I was concerned I was just roaming here n there lonely..I can tell u thats one of the worst feeling..when all around you are talking in groups and you have no one to speak to.And this is the second time I am facing this..first one being first few days of my college..N the very first thing that
u search for in a such a situation is sm 1 like you who is lonely !! Well I noticed a guy ..He looked short, fair n he too wore glasses..But didn look serious ..seems to be a cool guy.. So 'Target Detected'..But in between I was pulled into sm one else's conversation..One guy was familiar..I had noticed him during one of the lectures coz of the strange doubts he had asked..Well leave it..The impression that I got abt him was a ultimate peaceful n silent guy..Seeda Saadaa..n his looks perfectly seconds that ! n there was one more guy..Tall lean...long hair n most noticeable feature was frontal tooth gap :P ..The tall guy was the first to talk to me noticing me roaming lonely..
He said hi and I returned one..Cause of making friends with me was made clear in the first statement itself n that was the most expected one itself !
He asked,"You are from Kerala knw".
Me,proudly as if goal is in my court nw,"Oh,yeah !"
Nxt question, a very strange second question just after making friends with a new guy,"Do u know any good tailors nearby ?"
I was a little shaken by that question,Didn't see that coming !! I explained him that even I am new to Trivandrum,I am basically from Thrissur, pretty far away..n all.
After all these,he asked,"At least you can inquire in your language knw"
Hmmmmmmmmmm....I said,"I'll try n let u knw"..from then I knew I am gonna be a mediator for a lot of guys like him !
Well that guy's name is "Chandrakant"..interesting name too !! n his friend ,the peaceful one is named 'Susant'..
Susant was a Msc graduate from ISM..n Chandrakant, ECE graduate from ISM ! Looks defy him :P Well at least these were the guys who separated me from the weird loneliness for some time..Thnk you guys ...

The next session was Lab..we had to got to sm A-13...I followed my classmates..as there was nobdy to accompany me :( .Well sat on a random seat..One at the end of the a row..the seat ppl normally don prefer...the seat for lonely ppl :P .But I have to continue my mission..'Make more friends as soon as possible..Otherwise itz gonna be really tough for me all alone ! So I tried to speak with the guy nxt to me..He was short with mustache..Looked as another 'Seeda Saada' person.Well I asked his name to start with..But the name
was contradictory to his appearance,"Sivaji" !! He had a smile on his face during this conversation making my task easy ..When u first talk to person n the other person gives a nice smile..that makes your task a lot more easy ! Well, I asked where he was from..He also belonged to the COEP Phylum..So protocol wise he asked back my college ..I said proudly,"BIT,Mesra"..n still he had only that smile on his face n no other expression change ! So it was sure that he hasn't heard of BIT.My pride fell vertically..
I asked him,"You haven heard of BIT,rite"
He replied,"No"..with the same smile.."Where is it ?",he added.
"Its in Ranchi",I replied humbly.
Still the smile :P Anyway I liked this guy :)

Okk..who next..I was nw searching sm bdy else to befriend !! Till nw I couldn't find sm bdy of my kind :(. Bt soon one guy's face stopped me. Actually he was smiling at me..a peculiar smile.So sm bdy else also want to befriend me .. interesting !! The specialty abt this guy is he looks very similar to Ajay Devgan..
With his killer smile he asked,"You are frm Kerala naa"..Ohh..the same old story ! But in the background of my mind sm thing else poped up..I know this guy's name..He was also caught in the first lecture itself.
I think for yawning only.But the thing with this guy was he looked very arrogant.That made Miss Gloria pissed off ! I remember she asked his name n he replied very arrogantly,"Nitin"..Instantenously the this piece of info flowed from my brain to my touge n I said ,"You r Nitin knw ! " Suddenly it seemed as if sun rose up on his face..He turned to his friend nearby n said,"See,I am already famous" n I felt I already I scored enuf to start a good friendship.Keep it coming George !! Still this guy is also not my type..
Though we seem to share certain characteristics ! He's more of a arrogant n aggressive type .. well one more contact added ..
He introduced his friend also..A thin,tall,fair guy with specs.Not much conclusions from the first meeting.But he seemed to be Nitin's close friend.That can be a source of many conclusions.So like that first session came to an end.

The first session in the post lunch session was sm Induction thing.Miss.Nimmi is in charge the session was in sm new room.So again tension of finding the room all alone.The guys whom I befriended are still in their groups.Without much details lemme come back to the next session.I came a little late...I mean I was still on time..But late to catch the back seats.The same problem as in college.You need to come before time to get a place in the back benches :P .This time I had to be satisfied with first row...was feeling kind of
wierd.hmmm...
Nimmi mam came on time..She was pretty fat..Well as usual the session began with introductions...this time with a speciality..You have to say one of your peculiar qualities too.Now this is one of the most difficult questions I find to answer.Nothing was coming to ma mind.But nw to save my pride I had to make up sm thing...Suddenly 'watever'I am doing nw came to my mind.I mean "blogging".. that was enuf for the time being..Well among others qualities, sm them were really good.One guy said he's a national level ice
hockey player and he has gone to sm other countries to represent India !! Wow gR8 !

After everyone's introduction, she started randomly calling some body and asked to tell the names of all others in the section. It was not a very difficult task for COEP Phylum as half the class was filled with them. But for people like me it was little difficult on the first day. Luckly, she did not call my name.
Then she gave us a exercise to learn everybody name.She divided the whole class into two divisions.One group were tagged as blind and the other dumb.As the name implies the blind had to close their eyes and dumb were nt supposed to speak.We had arrange ourselves in ascending order of our names as soon as possible.As I started thinking as how to do(I was in the dump section) others had already started arranging themselves.Two guys were really performing as the leaders of the group job n I need to tell you they were doing a very good job. One was the CR n the other the Ice hockey guy.We finished our work fast and they were ,I mean those 2 guys were deeply appreciated by Nimmi mam.As for the rest of the day I don remember anything. So that was the first day of training.

ILP - Paid holidays @ TCS Jun-Sep 2010 -Part 1

So it's time to enter the professional world.After 4 years of struggling with Electronics I am finally entering an IT company.Well,to be frank i don hate IT world.But the more
attractive thing as far as I was concerned was that 3 months of training was @ Trivandrum ,which means I can stay back in my God's own country for another 3 months.Happy !!

So I boarded Jana shadabthi express with my dad from Thrissur station at 4 o'clockon 20th June 2010.Reached Trivandrum central by around 9.It's my second visit to Trivandrum, intial visit being during my 9th standard picnic.Me n dad stayed in a hotel nearby railway station for the night.Next day we started early in the morning and reached TCS campus around 7 30.Nidhal called me up n told he'll be there in 5 mins.So I waited for his arrival.But in between I noticed boys n gals moving inside the so called Hostel. So I thought that boys n gals hostel were inside same compound. Soon Nidhal arrived.As soon as he arrived we entered our names in the register and told the guard that we want one room.He rejected instantly ! :P . There is nothing like that here..As people come,rooms get filled..that's it !

He directed us to a small room inside.There a lady was sitting.She asked us to check our names in the list.Actually she was responsible for the room allotment.As soon as we realized that, we requested her mildly.She too rejected.But mildly this time.So it was time to use our trump card ! Malayalam ! We requested her in Malayalam.She didn reject this time.She just smiled and gave us the Key.Both key had number 157.We smiled back ! and said Thanks :) Advantages of mallus in Mallu-Land :) We proceeded with our luggage to room no 157.In the mean time I called up Satish.He said he was already on his way downstairs(he got his room in 3rd floorn ours was on 1st floor).I told him to come to room no.157.So we went in search of room no.157.We followed the room no.s and finally reached the 150's lobby..Okk.But 1 thing again I noticed gals were still roaming around!
I told Nidhal ,Dude it seems to be a mixed hostel.
He replied,'Yaa, daa'With lot of enthusiasm !
As we were opening our door a gal came out from the nxt room ! 'Damn !',It is a mixed hostel !! Nxt 5 mins many other gals came out from neighbourng rooms.
I told him,"We have a lot of girls living in our neighbourhood".!
Nidhal,"Ohh,Yeah',with a really cool smile.


Soon Satish arrived with Ritesh and Varun..all were well dressed like proper IT professionals.So it was time to leave for the first day of training @ Peepul Park.I soon changed my shoes and just freshed up and we too accompanied Satish to the 'Temple of Learning'.As I was entering the main center my mobile rang.It was my dad's call.Soon guard near by caught me n said,"Mobile is nt allowed in this campus'.
I repled,'Wat ?'
He made it clear n told me,"Nxt time if I find mobile with you,you won't get it back'.
I was really dumstuck.It's jus 15 mins since I arrived at TCS campus n I have already one 'Last warning' !!
Well I started to get a feel of the totally dump ILP rules.

We got into a big lecture hall.It was better than the college ones as it had A/c n really comfortable seats.We entered and occupied sm seats in the 3nd section from the entrance may be 3rd or fourth row from the top.Curiously I took a look around abt the other faces.I expected a lot of mallus as it was in Trivandrum.But it didn look soo.I could see Sardars n all.Okk..Ist session started soon.First session was by whom..I really don remember.Sm bdy from outside TCS,TVM only. That session wasn't that interesting.But the next session was by the Admin of TCS,TVM.It was a really entertaining session.He cracked a lot of jokes.

Following that many similar sessions followed and the most boring of all came from Shafeeq Ahemed.Only thing he had to say was 'TCS has only Do's and consequences :P'.That day before lunch.We had our Document verification.T06 & T07 had their document verification together while T08 & T09 had theirs together.So me and Satish went together to the concerned place.As usual we sat sm wer behind.We started observing the other ppl closely and started commenting abt them.After sm time two guys came inside.From the first look I could make out that they were of my kind-mallus.They asked us to arrange our docments in sm particular order so that they can speed up the verification process.Among the list they showed I lacked 2 things;8th Sem GPA card and Provisional though I had my passing certificate with me.

One guy was realy short tempered..ooohh..One sec..I forgot to introduce to sm elite ppl.Before coming for document verification Class Representatives were elected.Well 2 CRs were elected 4 each batch.Well..as far as T09 was concerned It was a guy who looked like a Nawab and a gal who looked as if she's has jus passed her 10th.I didn know their names then.

Now back to our current scene..Document verification..When my number came, I went to him with my documents.He verified them,but as Provision was missing he wrote there,Not complete.After document verification we had to update our names and % in BE in sm XL sheet.Till that moment I was fine with the fact that I was in TCS despite the fact that I'm a BIT graduate.But then I saw sm thing written on that XL sheet which drove me really crazy.Sm bdy had put their qualification as diploma.Dude..that was too much.Both are weighted same in TCS.Bullshit !!! Me n Satish went totally crazy after seeing this n that was the inspiration for many of our crazzy deeds in TCS :P
